Alaska State Parks has announced its second summertime Artist-In-Residence program. The program is open to artists working in all media.

Selected artists will spend up to two weeks at the historic Ernest Gruening Cabin outside of Juneau, between May and September of this year. The cabin was the territorial governor’s summer retreat and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The deadline to submit applications for the program is March 1. Participating artists are asked to donate an original piece inspired by their time at the cabin, and to host a community outreach event, such as a workshop, talk or other presentation.

Last year, seven Alaska artists participated in the residency program.

Artists will be responsible for their own transportation. They also must provide their own food, supplies and art materials. Chosen artists are not compensated.

Application forms and a description of the cabin can be found on the Alaska State Parks website.
