Small earthquake shakes Southeast Alaska

A small earthquake Thursday morning lightly shook the northern Panhandle.

The Alaska Earthquake Information Center reports that the 4.1 magnitude temblor occurred at 8:56 a.m. The epicenter was about 38 miles west-northwest of Haines and 109 miles northwest of Juneau.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, residents in Haines, Juneau, Douglas and Whitehorse reported feeling the earthquake.

There have been no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
