People have until 8:30 p.m. to vote for Eaglecrest Ski Area in its second appearance in Powder Magazine’s Ski Town Throwdown.

The bracket-style competition ranks the top places to ski in North America through online voting. Last year, Juneau’s ski area was the Great White North champion, but took second place overall, losing by 90 votes to Crested Butte, CO.

Voting in the Throwdown is no longer tied to Facebook like it was last year. People can vote online at powder.com or skijuneau.com.

Eaglecrest’s sales and marketing director Jeffra Clough says being in the Throwdown is about exposure.

“Are we going to see any increased lift lines from people flocking in from down south? Oh, probably not. But I think it’s really fun to tell the story. We know that Juneau is an awesome community and I think it’s just great to highlight Juneau and to highlight Eaglecrest,” Clough says.

In the Throwdown’s first round, Eaglecrest is up against Fernie Alpine Resort in British Columbia.
