A Ketchikan man was sentenced in court Friday for a marijuana grow operation discovered in January.
61-year-old Lowell Tschetter pleaded guilty to misconduct involving a controlled substance in the sixth degree, a B misdemeanor. He was sentenced to 90 days suspended and 120 hours of community service.
According to court documents, Tschetter’s roommate Steven Brandow called State Troopers after the two got in an argument at the house they shared, which Brandow owns. When troopers responded, Tschetter had left and troopers allegedly found 48 growing and rooted marijuana plants, and 96 ounces of stored stems and leaves, as well as a digital scale, grow lights and packaging materials in the house.
Brandow allegedly told troopers that Tschetter cultivated the marijuana, but that Brandow helped cultivate, as well as smoke, the marijuana and often referred to the plants as his.
In September, Brandow pleaded guilty to one charge of delivering controlled substances, a C felony, and was sentenced to 180 days in jail, all suspended, and a $5,000 fine.
