Lawmakers to hear about office space standards
Alaska senators will get a look at the new space standards for state office buildings.
Members of the Senate State Affairs and Labor and Commerce committees are scheduled Thursday to tour an Anchorage office building renovated to meet the new standards.
The tour is part of an overview hearing on the space standards and state employee health insurance plan negotiations.
The Alaska State Employees Association has filed a grievance over the standards, arguing they drastically change the work environment. Deputy commissioner of Administration Curtis Thayer has said that management has always had the right to establish the working environment.
