Anchorage men charged with kidnapping

Two Anchorage men are charged with kidnapping and other felonies after allegedly taking a Big Lake couple at gunpoint to withdraw cash from ATMs.

Alaska State Troopers say Arthur Gray and Benjamin Lega were arrested early Sunday by a Wasilla police officer.

Troopers’ spokeswoman Megan Peters tells KTUU the male victim told the officer:

“Oh, just so you know, we’re being kidnapped.”

Peters say the men went to the female victim’s home and took several items at gun point. When her boyfriend arrived, the suspects went to his nearby home, taking his ATM card.

The suspects then allegedly put the couple in the car to drive to ATMs, but the card didn’t work until they reached Wasilla.

Gray and Lega were jailed with arraignments set for later Monday.
