Person arrested after base gate-crashing
Officials at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson say a person of interest has been arrested after a gate-crashing at the Anchorage base.
KTUU says the pickup truck used in the incident early Saturday morning has been found.
Air Force Maj. Joseph Coslett says the arrest occurred in Eagle River Saturday evening on charges unrelated to the gate-crashing.
Further details and the person’s name are not immediately available.
Officials say the 1994 GMC Sierra went through the Boniface Gate, prompting a high-speed chase by security forces.
Authorities shot at the truck to try to disable it, but the male driver avoided the gunfire and left the base through the same gate. The damaged gate was closed for seven hours after the chase.
There are no reported injuries.
