Yukon Quest not concerned about skimpy snow
Organizers of the Yukon Quest International Sled Dog Race say it’s a bit premature to panic about too little snow on the trail.
Organizers say a lot can change in the nearly three weeks remaining before the start of the 1,000-mile race from Whitehorse to Fairbanks on Feb. 2.
The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner says a meeting was held Monday to discuss trail conditions. The race has numerous volunteers who monitor the portion of the trail between Fairbanks and the Canada border.
Organizers say while most of the trail could use more snow, the current base layer appears adequate.
