South American students spend their summer enjoying winter at Eaglecrest
Only two days left in the Juneau ski season. Eaglecrest closes on Sunday, after a banner year of snow. The city-owned ski area opened November 25th, eight days earlier than planned. It still has more than 100 inches of snow at the base and nearly 160 at the top of the mountain.
Coeur to spend $4-million on Kensington exploration this year
Coeur d’Alene Mines Corporation is spending $4-million dollars on exploration at its Kensington Gold Mine this year. But company officials say they’re focused on stabilizing existing operations at the nearly two-year old mine in Berners Bay, about 45-miles north of Juneau.
Three suspected cases of PSP reported in Juneau
State health officials are investigating three suspected cases of paralytic shellfish poisoning, or PSP, in Juneau this week. All of the patients are recovering. All the suspect shellfish was reportedly harvested over Easter weekend.
