Felon sentenced for possessing firearms
A 53-year-old Eagle man has been sentenced to nearly two years in federal prison for being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Chief U.S. District Court Judge Ralph Beistline on Friday sentenced Raymond Spruell to 23 months in prison and three years of supervised release.
The term will be served after a fourth-month state sentence for an assault conviction while Spruell possessed the firearms.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Kelly Cavanaugh says Alaska State Troopers investigating the assault in November 2011 found guns and ammunition at Spruell’s home.
She says they recovered .four rifles and a .357 handgun.
