Wind turbine to aid in teaching Kodiak students

A seventh Alaska wind turbine has been raised as part of the Wind for Schools program.

The latest is in place at Kodiak High School after two years of work by community members and borough go

vernment.

The Wind for Schools program is a national vehicle for science and math education.

A program spokeswoman says data downloaded from the turbine will be used to teach engineering, math and natural science concepts.

The program within the state is overseen by the Alaska Center for Energy and Power at the University of Alaska Fairbanks.
