Early voters can vote electronically
Early voting in Alaska has begun for next month’s general election, and voters now can receive and return their ballots electronically.
Lt. Gov. Mead Treadwell’s office says in a news release that the online ballot transmission system launched last month for military and overseas voters. Voters not in that group were able to begin using the system on Monday.
The system allows Alaska voters to request ballots by e-mail or fax, and receive ballots electronically within 48 hours. Treadwell’s office says that voters can then return their ballot via a secure web-based system, mail or fax.
An application for online ballot delivery can be found through the state Division of Elections website.
