More than 400 nonprofit organizations are receiving donations this month from Alaskans sharing their Permanent Fund dividends through the “Pick. Click. Give.” Campaign.
The Anchorage Daily News reports that more than 23,000 people designated gifts this year totaling more than $2.2 million – a record amount.
Under the campaign, PDF recipients can designate a portion of their dividend to one or more qualifying nonprofits.
According to the program, the amount contributed by Alaskans has increased each year. The campaign raised $1.5 million in 2011; $927,000 in 2010; and $545,000 in 2009, the program’s first year.
