Alaska gas line project could cost $65B or more

A newly released estimate indicates a liquefied natural gas project in Alaska could cost up to $65 billion or more.

The estimate was provided in project details from the North Slope’s three major players and TransCanada Corp. The details were released late Wednesday by Gov. Sean Parnell’s office.

Parnell had set a Sept. 30 deadline for the companies to identify a project and work schedule and to have firmer numbers on a project.

The companies said the project would be unprecedented in terms of scale and challenge.
