Pilot Station boy killed after a dispute

Alaska State Troopers say a 9-year-old boy was fatally shot in Pilot Station by another 9-year-old boy while they were having an argument.

Troopers say the boy was shot in the chest by a high-powered .17 caliber pellet rifle Friday afternoon in the western Alaska village.

According to troopers, the wounded child was taken to the village clinic where CPR was unsuccessfully performed.

The names of the boys were not immediately released.

Troopers say an investigation is continuing.
